The Krieger Home

The Krieger Home, also known as Oma & Opa's House, is the residence of Wolfgang and Ute Krieger, grandparents of Johann Krieger. Since the death of his parents, Johann lived at this residence until he began his studies at Safeholme. The house made its first appearance in the mainline story event The Sage of Doors & His Lovely Enchantress when the student-cast was transported there for safety during the events of The Siege of Safeholme.

Features

The residence is a three-bed, two-bath, two-story detached house located in Austria. It is furnished with a wide living room, a combination dining room/kitchen, a utilities room and a sizeable garage that can fit two compact cars.

Living Room

The living room accomodates two two-seat couches and one recliner. Bookshelves frame the bay window. There is a small TV. By the stairs is a small-end table for mail, keys, and three pictures:

  • Wolfgang, 22, and Ute, 21, driving away from the photographer in a convertible and waving.
  • Johann, newborn, held in Ute’s arms while Wolfgang leans over her shoulder.
  • Jürgen and Reiner. Jürgen is punching his brother’s rank insignia playfully; Reiner is miming the act of braining his brother with a Ph.D. diploma.

Dining Room

The northwest corner has a tall china cabinet, with a large silverware cabinet on the west wall. The remaining edge space is filled with plants.

Stairwell

Several family photos are hung on the wall going up the stairs:

  • Wolfgang, Ute, Renate, Jürgen, Johann, Reiner, and Ursula in the living room at Christmas. Johann, who couldn't be more than eleven, stood with both his bright hazel eyes staring up at his parents and hands triumphantly displaying his latest unwrapped treasure.
  • Wolfgang and Jürgen leaning over the exposed engine of a powder blue BMW 507, looking over their shoulders at the camera.
  • Ute standing behind Renate and Ursula, the latter pair seated on the couch. Renate is holding up a blue-gray cloak with a geometric pattern embroidered in gold over the heart. Ursula is holding an acceptance letter to Escoffier Culinary School in Paris.
  • Johann, 4 or 5, curled up asleep on Wolfgang’s lap. Wolfgang and Ute are smiling and holding hands.
  • Jürgen, 24, in a collared shirt and slacks, smiling and holding up his diploma: a MS of Biology.
  • Jürgen, 16, and Reiner, 19, stand on a lake dock holding up fish.
  • Reiner, 18, standing at attention in a military uniform.
  • Reiner, 25, and Ursula, 22, on their wedding day.
  • Jürgen, 24, and Renate, 25, on their wedding day.
  • Wolfgang, 22, and Ute, 21, on their wedding day.
  • Wolfgang, Ute, and Johann on his first day at Safeholme.
  • Johann, perhaps 11 or 12, sat in a high-backed leather office chair. It was turned toward the camera. One hazel eye was hidden beneath that familiar turban. A cheery smile lit up a face still fresh with bruises and scrapes. In his arms was a massive book: Der Nekronomikon des Doktor Faust.
