| “For a long time, I lived in a deep, dark place. I got used to deep, dark places. More to the point. I am an alchemist, an aspiring artificer and what you would call a scientist in the mundane world. I have many things I want to do, many projects I want to explore, many things I want to learn.” - Percival to Tanuki Issei |

Percival is 5'8“ with a thin frame and, due to certain circumstances, he does not have a left arm. His brown hair is kept up in swept style, and almost always carefully arranged, as is the rest of his appearance. The man's features are gaunt, but filled out with growing muscle since he was recovered from his cave.
Among staff and faculty, Percival is known to answer others in a recognizable, bored drone. His voice is deep with the faintest scratch in throat. With friends and family, he is more lively, his Welsh sing-song voice coming in over the hardy demeanor he tries to paint over himself with.
An aroma of something akin to incense follows Percival around wherever he goes, and his hands usually have an anti-septic smell to them.
Buried under a cold, calculating shell is Percival, a lively, loud and flamboyant man. While he prefers the safety of his own lab and home to going out, he has trouble resisting the allure of going out with friends and interacting with others. At heart, he loves people, speaking to them and getting to know them. He is also possessed of a mischievous streak, and is prone to silly stunts and acts of bravado.
Born in Bangor, Wales, Percival lived his early life as a bound font. Without the ability to use magic in a magical society, he was drawn to the practice of Alchemy at a young age. His parents, powerful magic users themselves, were involved in many layers of Occultus society and this allowed Percival a wide range of exposure.
This changed on a school field trip to the Gwynned Digsite. There, Percival encountered the staff, Unity, a physical manifestation of the Elementalia Magicus. Upon touching the staff, the binding script on his body was broken, and his life changed from there on. He had become a Font for the realm of the Elementalia, and was its representative. After this, he moved to Osaka, Japan, enrolling in a school that took in magic students under a low-profile guise.
Through 2011, he developed friendships with mages who would eventually go on to become The Menagerie. His power continued to grow, and he was exposed to the gods of the Elementalia more and more. Once his well of strength had grown to a certain level, the demon, Loathing, disguised as the god Aurus, released [om:character:eryl_maelgwyn]. Misguided and estranged from her original body, Eryl attempted to take Percival's life to gain freedom from the Elementalia. When she failed, Percival spared her, and gave his left arm to allow her a chance at life.
After a short recovery period, Percival and the Menagerie grew in renown and fame. Despite the tragedies that befell them, they were highly successful. For seven years after the attempt on his life, Percival was active in mage society, gained a masters in Pharmacology, and became a top-certified Alchemist.
Then, he disappeared. After suffering from what he thought was a cardiac arrest, he withdrew from family, friends and society to research what he was sure was his impending death and subsequent arcane explosion. For three years he battled a deteriorating physique in the mountains of Greenland, researching for ways to save himself. It was during this time he uncovered a plot by a priest of the Ise Shrine to enslave the Goddess Amaterasu. Unable to stand-by, he caused an incident at the Ise Shrine, which prompted action by Kagami Miyuki. Miyuki followed Percival's breadcrumbs until she arrived at Heaven itself to foil the plot.
Having studied the art since childhood, Percival has a depth of understanding of Alchemy that rivals and surpasses some of the scientific contemporaries of his generation. His knowledge of ingredients, processes, and theory are extensive and he has a great deal of the art's knowledge memorized. He incorporates this knowledge in ways of defending himself, and supporting his allies. This knowledge has extended into a knowledge of Artificing, and enabled him to create incredible feats of magical engineering.
Alchemical Bandolier and Caster: Strapped to Percival's chest is a bandolier of vials and liquids that present utilitarian and sometimes combat uses. When stepping into danger, and allowed time to prep, Percival will take along his Alchemical Caster, a modified Webley revolver that can fire alchemical casings.
The AXETONNE: A hulking mechanical suit of armor powered by Percival's scepter. It is outfitted with an arm-mounted chemical thrower with various nozzles and the ability to discharge vials at deadly speeds. The opposite arm is a rotating shield-case of various containers of alchemical mixture.
The Everlasting: When Percival finally proposed to Miyuki, he began work on a luxurious yacht that he intended the two to travel the world on their honeymoon.
The vessels frame is a composition of sea-serpent bones with trace amounts of heavenstone alchemically imbued to give the helmsman a 'feel' of the whole ship. The keel has a less flexible bar of cold iron running through it to give the spine structure and reduce extreme amounts of flex. The outer hull are made with a treated Teak that is especially weather resistant and has the same trace heavenstone to give a similar effect to the frame.
The wings are an organic polymer of fae-weave and hard sea-serpent fins. The fins act as central, flexible support, while the fae-weave is the sail, as it were. The weave is wrapped around the fins in order to act as a radiator for energy. The everlasting can't handle rough seas exceptionally well, she's only a small vessel, and is designed primarily for flight with her balance of strength and flexibility.
Percival is what is now known as a Conduit, a form of elevated Font that has reached a point symbiosis and stability with their well of power. For Percival, this has taken the form of his mind and body melding with the Elementalia Magicus, becoming the undisputed ruler of the realm. This, however, means nothing in the middle realm, except for his ability to direct his well of power to other things.
Divine Husk: Percival's body in the middle realm is a manifestation sent forth from the Elementalia. In essence, he cannot die a permanent death, but every time he does or abuses his connection to the Elementalia, he strays further from his grip on humanity, which has it's own consequences. His husk can take on different forms, but only as aspects of Percival himself. The following represents the system that controls Percival's attachment to the middle realm
| Husk Mechanics | ||
|---|---|---|
| Grip | 90 | Percival's grip on humanity determines whether or not he suffers a soul fracture when he undergoes a bodily death in the regular world. It is represented by a value from 0 to 100, and each time he dies, he loses five percent of the total value. On a death, a dice roll will determine if he suffers an irreversible fracture, determind by an additional dice-roll from the effects below. |
| Fracture | Chance | Effect |
| Ascendance | 1 - 10 | The thread on Percival's humanity snaps and he inadvertently ascends to godhood, and is retired from play. He is unable to take form in the middle-realm and can only interact with the middle-realm by proxy like the rest of divinity. |
| Unraveled Memory | 11 - 40 | Ten of the oldest asides in which Percival is involved are stacked from most recent to oldest, and a d10 determines which is forgotten permanently. If there are not ten available, then the oldest takes the last unfilled spaces. |
| Changed Husk | 41 - 70 | Percival returns to life changed physically in some way that is unlike his previous body, but unlike the normal ability to modify his husk, the change becomes the new baseline Percival. The change is something that reflects the person that caused his death. Ex: Percival is killed by a red-haired woman, he could return with red hair, or he could return as a woman. |
| Laughing Gods | 81 - 90 | The GM, the player leading the aside, or all players in an aside decide what happens. |
| Burn the Candle | 91 - 00 | Percival's grip decreases by an additional 5%. |
Dominion: A replacement for Unity, his staff, Dominion is a scepter that controls the flow of Percival's mana, and enables him to power objects in the middle-realm.
Realmbridge: With sufficient mental focus, Percival can turn obvious thresholds like doors, holes, hatches or even windows into a portal to the Elementalia. This ability is easier to perform the more difficult it is to see on the other side of the threshold.
