Drysi Llewella Maelgwyn

“Leave it to the keepers!? So be it! Who wants to be a bloody keeper!?” answered Drysi with an impassioned growl as she set the tea cup down and began shoving cookies into her skirt pockets, “But you hear me, Master Flynn! You'll not do this alone! No! You'll've no choice! Because I'm goin' to make for you the things that will destroy him! I will study! I will study! And study! And read! And bleed! All until I've made something that will give you the sharpest edge you've ever known! It'll be so wondrous, that you'll have no choice but to use it and it will be Drysi's spell that brought down the wolf!”

By this point she had been crying freely, tears spilling over her grit teeth, “If I'm to be the future, Mr. Flynn, then you will have to live in the future I make! And I'm goin' to start makin' it right now!

Drysi is a student of Safeholme. Formerly an aspiring initiate of the Library of Cardiff, she is now a budding researcher in the 3rd Circle of the Druid Order.

Visual

Drysi is 5'1”, thin, and roughly pear shaped. Her blonde hair is curly and styled into long locks. All three of her sharp eyes are green, and are accented by sharp features, square glasses and a narrow face. Her third eye is normally visible to other mages, but is imperceptible to the mundane due to inscribed enchantment

Sound

Among friends, family and people she knows well, Drysi usually speaks in a rough Welsh accent that has only gotten worse since she became a druid. When dealing with professional colleagues, or when trying to sound posh, she straightens out her accent to a flatter UK sound.

Scent

A faint smell of mineral and ozone wafts about her, which Drysi tries to hide under a mild, floral perfume.

Personality

Quick to anger and quick to cool, Drysi is a normal example of a triclops in her teenage years. She is gregarious among her small group of friends, but largely keeps to herself and her own projects. Possessed of a great deal of emotional intelligence, she tends think well under pressure, even when she appears to be unraveling.

History

Drysi Maelgwyn is one of those Maelgwyns, of the Maelgwyns of Cardiff. However, Drysi was born in Newport to a branch of the family that didn't work at the Library of Cardiff. Her family consisted of Wynne and Eckert Maelgwyn, a pair of mages that set up a stationery store that doubled for a Scribecraft store. Eckert Maelgwyn was an Inscriptionist of little reknown, living far away from the glamorous Library of Secrets. His wife, Wynne Deckart, a paper witch of also little reknown, found her husband's quiet leanings, and multiple eyes pallatable. Drysi, however, had no desire to live a quiet life of obscurity in Newport.

She ran away from home, twice, once to Cardiff and once to Bangor to try and become a student at a magical school. From birth, her family tried to raise her as a normal, mundane child, but the girl's exposure to magic from her grandmother, Bleddyn, encouraged her to seek a life in mysticism. Seeing that they could not stop her, her family moved to Japan to have her attend a generalist school that was known for accepting eccentric students.

Magical Archetypes

Drysi's magic is a learned specialty that draws on a foundation of inscription magic that has been built on by studies in the Druid arts. Supporting this with papersophy, Drysi is capable of casting spells based in either chiseled or written forms. She often supplements a lack of experience with study and preparation.

Runic Engineer

Drysi is an Initiate of the Druid Order and an apprentice of Ruarc Flynn. She is still in the early stages of training, but possesses a brilliant mind for creative development of and research into the druidic arts. Besides learning from her master in training and using his spells, Drysi develops unique ways to employ runes in her day-to-day and in dangerous situations.

Magical Outfit: Drysi wears the brown robe of an initiate in the order, with the orders symbol on the back, and woven runes of protection along the hems. Under it she wears a simple green shirt bound in a small brown, leather vest. The rest is a pair of shorts with a set of sturdy leather boots, along with a simple satchel hung on the shoulder.

Creations
The Iron Book: Drysi's first runic creation, a iron clasped spell-book that has inked runes on its pages that enable Drysi to cast spells. The iron binding on the spine contains different runes that Drysi can power, where then the effects of the runes are emanated on focus points inscribed on the cover. To properly use the Iron Book, one must have an understanding of Papersophy.
Spells Incantation
Wind Step: Primarily used for traversing long distances. Like a bird with a tailwind, the caster becomes faster, has enhanced stride length, and physical fatigue is instead magical fatigue. Ag mo dhroim na gaoithe

Blindness: Throws a dark curtain over a target's vision, preventing it from using its perception of sight. Higher skill and power allows Drysi to completely surpress all five of a target's senses. Daille de sin

Wall of Thorns: Drysi creates a rapid growth of dense brambles that impedes anyone who might try to pass through it. Cosaint an eolais
Runes
Purify: Cleanses corruption and curses from afflicted bodies.
Heal: Channels benevolent energy into a wounded body to promote rapid regeneration.
Dispel: Negates magic in the area the rune is activated.
Deny Magic: Increases resistance to magical energies (most common on armors, robes, and clothing).
Deny Elements: Increases resistance to natural energies and elements (most common on armors, robes, and clothing).
Minor Image: Creates a noise or a simple illusion to appear over the rune with activates after a certain time, once triggered, or last for a certain duration. Images fade if the form is obstructed by another object.
Fire: Creates a jet of flame.
Wind: Creates a gust of strong wind.
Shock: Creates an arc of powerful electricity.
Light: Creates a ball of brilliant light.
Calm: Promotes feelings of peace and tranquility, granting one a clear mind even in troubling times (common on charms and accessories).
Vigor: Promotes feelings of energy and alertness, granting one renewed stamina in times of crisis (common on charms and accessories).

Familiar: Gideon

Gideon is Drysi's familiar, a Tiger Keelback Snake, and like most familiars, compliments her druid's personality. He is a simple creature, and content to watch and wait instead of hurry-up and do. Often he will act as the voice of reason if Drysi's being reckless and encourage her if she's unsure. A typical specimen of his species, Gideon is roughly three feet long, and coils around onto his druid's shoulders when he's not slithering around.

Papersophist

Drysi's mother comes from a long line of paper witches, practicing the fading art of papersophy, or the ability to adeptly control the shape and position of paper. Drysi learned most of what she knows now from the intermittent lessons from her mother, but only practices the art in her support of her academic pursuits.
