Abilities

Primary Abilitiy: Casting — Conall was once an active Keeper with the Druid Order, but he has since abandoned that way of life as well as his family. Never-the-less he still carries with him the knowledge he has acquired through years of studying the Ancestral Tome. He recites the incantations from memory, and through lots of practice he is capable of using a spell without reciting the entire verse.

Secondary Ability: Runology — Conall has been crafting runes since boyhood and has accumulated a sizable library usable runes. Through his travels around the world he has picked up a menagerie of other runes and related artifacts from many other cultures.
Common Runes (Various effects can be achieved based on the combination of runes used):

  • Purify - Cleanses corruption and curses from afflicted bodies.
  • Heal - Channels benevolent energy into a wounded body to promote rapid regeneration.
  • Dispel - Negates magic in the area the rune is activated.
  • Deny Magic - Increases resistance to magical energies (most common on armors, robes, and clothing).
  • Deny Elements - Increases resistance to natural energies and elements (most common on armors, robes, and clothing).
  • Fire - Creates a jet of flame.
  • Wind - Creates a gust of strong wind.
  • Shock - Creates an arc of powerful electricity.
  • Light - Creates a ball of brilliant light.
  • Calm - Promotes feelings of peace and tranquility, granting one a clear mind even in troubling times (common on charms and accessories).
  • Vigor - Promotes feelings of energy and alertness, granting one renewed stamina in times of crisis (common on charms and accessories).
  • Barrier - Creates a semi-permeable bubble around the caster that can defend against magical attacks, and if enough energy is applied many physical attacks can also be repelled.
  • Decoy - Creates a visual double of the caster. Used by applying energy and tossing the rune. The decoy will then proceed to act on autopilot pending cues from the caster.
  • Smoke - Creates a plume a thick, acrid smoke. Used to mask escapes, or disorient assailants. Conall has used this a number of times to duck out of bar fights that turn south, or duck out on paying a tab that he can’t afford.
  • Intoxicate - Immediately grants the effects of intoxication upon whomever the rune is applied to is affixed to.
  • Summon (object) - Summons an object to the location of the tag.
  • Force - Releases a concussive blast, strength can be adjusted and can be directed.
  • Gravity - The weight of the medium grows in relation to the amount of energy the user gives to it. The more energy, the heavier the medium feels.
  • A plethora of other runes have been used in the past, but do not see a whole lot of action.
  • Known Limits: Conall’s primary shortcoming is his own pride. Past events have driven him into the life of a drifter, and he has had problems with alcohol dependency. While under the influence of alcohol he can become rash and overly headstrong which has led him into many conflicts over the years.

  • Personality:
  • Appearance: Conall has a stocky build and tops out at a height of 5’10”. He has wide shoulders, a barrel chest, and a small beer belly from years of travel, drinking, fighting, and drinking. He has thick black hair that hasn’t been cut in ages and drapes down to his shoulders. Matching his hair, he has a thick beard that hasn’t been shaved in a long while. These features coupled with worn out clothing and tattered traveling cloak gives the image of a vagabond.
  • Magical Item: His own two hands and a ram named Aodh.
  • Magical Outfit: His worn out traveler’s cloak. He gave up his Druid’s cloak when he handed over his title.
  • Familiar: Aodh the ram has remained steadfast by Conall’s side for the past thirty-two years. No matter how dark the times may be, or how self-deprecating the man become, the ram has been a loyal friend and ally. Aodh serves as one of the last supports Conall has.
  • Captured inventory: Little more than supplies for traveling, and a selection of runes.

Spells (Not counting runes)

  • Conall has a strong command of around twenty-eight various spells with a multitude of effects; including all of the spells in Ruarc’s own inventory.
  • Empower Familiar: This spell channels the caster’s energy across the magical bond that is shared between him and his familiar. The familiar then undergoes a temporary alteration into a new form. In the case of Conall and Aodh, the ram becomes a living tank as he can grow to be as large as a small bus.
