Voranite is an energy-dense material used mainly by the Drathonians for power production. It is radioactive, dangerous to the environment, and can absorb other materials and convert them into energy. A mostly organic material, it can be easily grown and is therefore very common.

Voranite is generally found in the form of a yellowish oozing sludge, but can be found in a hardened, thick, cake-like material with a texture like that of Soap. It is highly radioactive, and will glow in the dark unaided. While it is relatively easy to harvest energy from, it produces large amounts of waste similar to animal excrement, most closely resembling Guano. The resulting materials are re-purposed and used by Drathonians as such things as armor and structural material, though, if left unchecked near some other form of high-energy material, it can revert back to its former state, causing structural damage.

Voranite, in its most common form, is highly acidic and can burn through many kinds of metals, as well as unprotected flesh. it is almost like a digestive enzyme, in that it breaks materials up into a form it can extract energy from, yet unlike a body, Voranite simply keeps the solid waste that comes along with this extraction, causing it to grow in both mass and energy. It is highly volatile, and under certain conditions, such as intense pressure and/or heat, it will react, causing large releases of energy.

Voranite, in its gelatinous and liquid forms, is very sticky. It will stick to things it touches, and, in large enough quantities, can trap animals, eventually killing and absorbing them, harvesting energy and mass.

Voranite is mainly used for Power generation, by being placed in what is known as an Organic Furnace, which mimics the function of a heart on a large scale, and causes the Voranite to release energy by heating and compressing it.

Voranite can be a useful weapon, and is mainly used in Area denial, as it can be easily spread over a wide range, and can render the area around itself inhospitable to most forms of life. As a powerful acid, it can also be used directly to damage unarmored or lightly armored enemies. Voranite is useful for making self-contained weapon systems, as it often produces enough power to allow a weapon to fire the Voranium, or can generate enough power to be used for energy weaponry if desired.

Due to its tendency to explode when subjected to intense heat or pressure, Voranite can be made into effective demolitions, explosives, and even depth charges if needed.

Drathonians come from a planet rich in Voranite, and grew up as a race adapting to the voranite-rich environment. They are immune to many of its effects, such as its radioactivity, and are strong enough to escape from much larger amounts of it than many other organisms. Drathonians' scales and/or carapaces are resistant to its acidic effect, though not invulnerable to it, generally giving the Drathonian time to wash the substance off with little harm. Some types of Drathonian internally excrete enzymes which allow them to safely ingest and harvest energy from Voranite, as well as support small amounts of voranite, supplying them with food from external sources. Some types can also process the waste from Voranite use in other ways than excrement, allowing for a number of specialized effects.

Terrans are particularly weak against Voranite, with very little Resistance to its radiation when not properly protected. They are generally not as capable of escaping large quantities of it, and their skin is highly susceptible to its acids. Ingestion of Voranite is fatal in most cases unless the substance is removed quickly, and can cause heavy internal damage even if removed properly.
