Light Infantry Recon Vehicle

1. About the Vehicle

The Light Infantry Reconnaissance Vehicle, or LIRV, is a multi-purpose vehicle designed to provide high-speed mobility to infantry in various terrain. It also comes in multiple variants for different mission profiles and needs. The LIRV-O is the Open-topped version, which is mainly used in hotter climates, and in terrain where the lightest possible weight is needed. The LIRV-E is the enclosed version which has more protection for more hostile environments, and can be sealed to keep out harmful gasses.

2. History and Background

5. Inside the Vehicle

The LIRV is a very simple vehicle, with only what's necessary included. Two seats in the front, and an open cargo area in the back, which can accommodate a couple more soldiers, or a large amount of gear.

The LIRV-O has a rollbar, which helps to protect the occupants in the case of a rollover, as well as serving as a mounting point for weaponry, lights, and other miscellaneous gear.

The LIRV-E, being enclosed, includes a roof hatch with a ring-mount for weapons and other miscellaneous system.

6. Vehicle Systems

Armored Hull and Hull Integrated Systems

The LIRV is made out of a lightweight, but durable alloy.

The LIRV-E is enclosed, and has considerably more armor protection than the open model, and is surprisingly durable under small arms fire. It is by no means an armored vehicle, and will not protect against heavier armaments.

Life Support Systems

The LIRV-E is capable of sealing and has a basic environmental retention system, which cleans the air and keeps oxygen levels safe and breathable for up to a week.

Propulsion

The LIRV is a four-wheel drive vehicle, with powerful electric motors mounted at each wheel. Power comes from an advanced Hydrogen fuel cell which creates power for the electric motors and any other systems on the LIRV.

Weapons Systems

The LIRV usually mounts one MG3, but can be modified to mount more than one, or other weapons sytems of similar size. The LIRV can also go without any weapons systems.
