Sarah shrunk immensely as she saw her surroundings turn into the strange blackness, she was practically squatting onto her knees, hunched over like a little predator. The Medic made it quick to latch herself to the metal cord. Whatever was happening, it didn't seem natural in the slightest. After spending a good three quarters of her life in caves and tunnels, the dark didn't scare her a bit, it was the natural and unnatural that skittered in the dark she was scared of. Cave-dwellers like her were doubly superstitious, and triply suspicious; living under solar lamps, strung up Christmas lights, and glowing light-bulbs does that to you.
The happenings around them set off so many warnings, it wasn't even funny. Sarah wanted to find a decent sized hole and hide in it, riding this business off like a stormy night. Instead, she opted to practically hovering just under Lolita, the young McCraggan tossing glances around like some guarded sentinel. The way she moved so closely to someone would seem like it would get in a person's way. Yet, Sarah moved in such a fashion that did not impede the tall marine's movement. Every glance Sarah sent to her surroundings was a immediately followed by a quick check here distance from her fellow marine, and then she would adjust her distance. It was like she was a little geared up specter swirling around Lolita's feet.
A perceptive marine would notice that the scurrying Medic was dead silent, not even offering nervous breaths to pair up with her guarded nature. Someone paying too much attention could see that every third glance was at one of the other marines, as if checking they were still there.
Fall Arc: Resonance
Re: Fall Arc: Resonance
As Lutz walked, however, something would stop him in his tracks. A pair of what looked like scribbled, neon red eyes appeared directly in front of his helmet, suddenly illuminating the little sphere of existence around the marine. The Eyes came in close, as if trying to stare through Lutz' helmet. Faintly, he could hear something that felt like whispering, except it was directly inside of his head. He couldn't make out the words, or even if it was words, just yet, though he had the feeling the eyes were trying to ask him something.

Still, the group would see nothing beyond a few meters away, at best. it seemed that being physically hooked together was helping for now, but, no matter where they went, there was no sign of Lutz or Hotaru. Just when it seemed like it was getting too much, the lights slowly began to grow, and the area around them increased in size again, or so it felt, however, though they could see the rest of the room, Lutz and Hotaru were still quite gone.
************************
Even though, for the main group, the lights had come back on, Lutz' world remained shrouded in darkness. The eyes continued to stare, and as Lutz watched, they were shown to be rapidly changing, as if the hand of a child was rendering them in real-time, little neon scribbles of light that didn't quite stay the same distance apart or sit exactly level, their size and shape even changing as each moment past. Attached to these eyes appeared to be some sort of whispy darkness, streaks almost as of fine hairs flicking and flying around in an amorphous mass that surrounded the Marine.

Lutz simply stared at the ethereal being in front of his face. Raising an eyebrow in curiosity, the German tried to rationalize what exactly was staring and whispering to him. Resembling the entity himself, Lutz craned his neck as he examined the odd red eyes; noting the amusing contrast between the creature’s ever changing eyes and his own consistently dead pan helmet.
“Hmm, perhaps you are the station's AI, and simply a hologram in need of repair?†he hypothesized after a minute of inspecting the odd being. “When the station went dark your communication system must have shorted out as well. At least, that would explain why I can’t understand you.†The marine then reached out with his right hand to pass it through the entity in order to test his theory.

Stories were written and told about situations eerily similar to the one Irvine Hillman found himself in. Things were clearly no longer abiding by all the laws of nature man had come to understand- or at least claimed he understood. Irvine was always open to the possibility that there were exceptions for everything, so it was easy for him to accept the predicament as it was. Many would contemplate the how and why this situation existed, but for Irvine Hillman the only question was: what will it take to survive?
He agreed that linking up would be a good idea, and linked himself into the human chain. "Well then, without further ado, Scout John." He gestured for the man to lead on.

when Lutz reached forward, his hand passed into the blackness almost immediately. unlike a hologram, the darkness seemed to have something like weight, and almost felt as if it was slowly sucking him in, long, thin tendrils wrapping around his arm and feeling their way up his form. As soon as Lutz contacted the thing, the whispering grew louder, but it also grew apparent that it wasn't just garbled Terran. Lutz could almost feel it within him, as if the sound was directly inside of his mind instead of being fed to it through his ears. A sensation of curiosity, and a slight tremor of what might have been fear, could be felt, as the darkness wrapped around Lutz completely, turning his world into nothing but blackness and those eyes- the little bubble of space around Lutz was completely gone.
Re: Fall Arc: Resonance
Lutz attempted to reel back when the black entity suddenly began surging up his arm, startled by potentially hostile action. In the sudden burst a movement he almost tripped over his own feet as the rest of his body was engulfed. Once completely shrouded Lutz felt very sluggish and heavy, and even though he was in full body armor he felt as though there were a weight pressing on him from all sides.
“Alright, I am officially out of ideas as to just what the hell is going on!†Lutz shouted inside his helmet, getting increasingly perturbed by the environment and relentless voices ringing in his head. Giving in to a bout of frustration he began to swing his rifle around trying to hit whatever it was that had swallowed him. “I don’t know, or care, what the hell you are, but get off of me!â€

Elsewhere, Hotaru dropped gently to the floor, sitting down and looking up at the thing that had just swallowed her, and had now spit her back out. She looked up, and was surprised. It had taken on her form, though it was still somewhat shifty, and the eyes never did quite remain the same. But, it had a form now, and it seemed to have depth. It had come to mimic the one it had begun to commune with. The dark-Hotaru smiled, and held out a hand in a friendly gesture, to help up the one it had just taken the form of.
Hotaru herself now understood, and, despite the tears in her eyes, she reached her hand up to take the one offered, and, bravely, smiled back.

The thing surrounding Lutz convulsed, then restricted, stopping the German's movements all together. He was now almost strung out, and he could feel his feet leave the ground. a warning light in his helmet beeped, and the shifting of his HUD informed him that the locking button had been pressed, and his helmet was now being twisted off of its seal.
As the helmet rotated, however, the whispering finally formed itself into something Lutz could understand, if only just. An image of creatures running in terror, with the image of them being fired upon by automatic weapons- It was followed by a feeling of questioning, but that soon disappeared, changed instead to that of humans smiling, the surroundings looked almost familiar to Lutz. He was then filled with a sense of urgency, as if he had lost something, then filled with a sense of relief as if he had found it. However, that was covered again by a sense of dread and fear when weapons were around. Almost on cue, Lutz could feel the rifle being prised from his grip, and then disappearing in and of itself.

Re: Fall Arc: Resonance
John Reese looked around for a way out, a door, a window , or a vent big enough for everyone to fit through.
Re: Fall Arc: Resonance
Reese would soon spot a door in the back, with the obligatory highly-visible lettering, reading "Exit" while it looked somewhat rusted, the hinges appeared to still be in working order, and it would probably open if they shoved on it hard enough, or if Lolita looked at it funny. To get to the door, however, they would have to follow a winding path that meandered it's way through a number of pools, none of which contained their missing squadmates.
Speaking of Squadmates, Where had the other John gone?

Re: Fall Arc: Resonance
"Squad, Exit door over there. Follow me," he slowly and cautiously moved over to the door and gave it a few kicks to try and get it open. Being as light as he was, the door didn't even budge. "Lolita, door please," stated Reese as he drew his weapon in case something was in the next room.
