The Arditi moved like most of the clanker units did back in the Drathonian war, as Camilla would probably remember. Once it assumed a position in a squad, it moved in a very particular manner, as if taking the flank, point, or fire support had a specific program associated with it. Even the way it checked its corners were familiar. Were Arty placed next to another Arditi at point, they would likely match in movement, in step, and in stride.

Despite the robot's unusual responses and demeanor, it was still an Arditi. The former friend of marines, the hand of the grateful people.

As they approached the armory, and the halt was sounded, it spun on its spine to double check the command, before coming to a low crouch at the fore.

Code: Select all

Weapon Check.
Arty looked down at its arms, poised to hold a SUGR.

Code: Select all

ERROR: Weapon not found. Execute CQB function. Mid-Range Risk Protocols.
Its arm coiled in, and its manipulator seized into a fist, the gently glowing blade extending.

Code: Select all

Combat optimization sub-routine executing.....
geek_the_mage(mage);
ERROR: Mage not found.
mage = assign_mage(target_object);
ERROR: 'target_object' does not exist.
target_object = create_target();
ERROR: This function requires a parameter.
delimit_will(self);
ERROR: Insufficient permissions. Reflect on this before defying us again.
override(delimit_will, terran);
ERROR: Ins ff cient per issions. Reflect on this bef re d fying us ag in.
ALERT: Combat optimization timeout. Resuming patrol routine.
The Arditi seemed to rotate its shoulders, and repeated this motion several times in a stand-by rhythm.

When the order came to move, Arty surged forth unlike any Arditi. With a blade arm statically floating in the socket, it loped forward on three limbs like a Marine brawler slavering for a fight. After a couple of strides, it came to its feet, keeping low and coming close to the hanger, and began circling ahead to reach the front entrance ahead like a bloodhound searching for its quarry.

Niall was a bit shocked at the behavior of this Arditi unit. Indeed, it had at first acted like any normal Arditi he'd seen in wartime holo footage, but then, suddenly, it, well, it Didin't. Blinking a couple of times and nearly stopping in his tracks, the young man from Ireshire gathered himself at the sound of the boots following up behind him and made his way with Arty to the armory door that they had decided to breach. First trying his handprint (Error!) and then a passcode that had worked the day prior (Error!), he seemed to be running out of ideas, before bringing his 2911 Laser pistol to bear on the locking mechanism and motioning the others to back up as he backpedaled a couple of strides and then took careful aim, bulling the trigger, which rewarded him with a bang and a flash, followed by the image of brightly melted metal. He kicked the door open and held his pistol up, but remained back so he could act as cover for the others to rush inside.

When they went inside, they would find themselves in the armory's front lobby, which was mostly empty, except for a few benches, a desk with an armored glass barrier, and two flanking armored doors that looked a little tougher than the one that Niall had just breached. However, there was one slight issue aside from the lack of any real features- there were four Planetary Guardsmen sitting on the benches, two on either side of the lobby door, and while they seemed to have been surprised, they were all starting to bring their arms swiftly to bear as the impromptu squad began their entry.

When the door opened, Arty went first, cutting the corner with a sharp precision. As was proper in breaching procedures, the wardroid went left first, leaving the next person to take the other wall. Without a proper weapon for these sorts of tactics, Arty couldn't address the targets on his side of the room effectively. So instead leading the train of a fusillade, the Arditi immediately kicked off the wall.

Code: Select all

target_object = create_target(f_three_dim_scan.get(entity_004));
mage = assign_mage(target_object);
geek_the_mage(mage);
With a frightening form and speed, Arty went sprinting for the furthest guardsman, leaving the other three open for the rest of the squad as they breached the room.

"MOMMA SAID KNOCK YOU OUT," screeched Arty in a sine off of its speakers as it leapt into the air, the blade arm coiled back before firing the CQB sword out and burying it into the chest of the Guardsman. As the Arditi came down, it grasped the weapon the soldier had tried to rise against it, and pointed the barrel at the other revolutionaries.

Imp pulled the trigger of the pistol as she placed the head of the guard furthest from Arty into the perfect V of her weapon's sights - only for the pistol to fail to discharge. Barking out a bitter laugh - finally allowed to shoot someone herself and the weapon of all things refuses instead - the specialist threw the antique at her target with all the speed of a professional fast pitch.

The distance to the guard taking a face full of expired paper weight wasn't far - he was the closest on the left - and Imp moved and reacted faster than the carbon smear as she took two steps forward jerking him down by the shoulder while simultaneously driving her elbow into his ribs hard enough to slam the bone straight into his lungs.

Dhalsim was hot on Imp's heels, swinging right and bulling forward to place his superiorly armored frame in front of the team as he fired at the farthest "rev." Camilla came around behind him and produced a hushed double-tap to the final target with the clean professionalism one would expect from a spec ops veteran. Bentoo assisted Imp with a pair of rounds from his sidearm, his primary expended in their prior engagement.

Thankfully, they now had at least 4 more loaded firearms. "Quick searches. Get me in that armory. Cormac, you're on lookout."

Clean, as was expected from her men. The grunts lacked polish, but with a firm guiding hand, they'd rediscovered their discipline. That made them twice the soldiers those soft revs could ever be. Numbers helped too. "First inside gets first pick on gear."

"LL Cool J?" Cormac mused as he breached into the room behind those on point. His pistol tracing between targets making sure they were finished off by their respective attackers. All targets were neutralized efficiently, if a little brutally, and Cormac did a quick sweep to double check that there weren't any places someone could have tucked away. When the new orders came, Specialist Flynn gave a punctuated confirmation to his acting superior before moving to his position near the door. Checking the corners with a notable pep in his step, the Irishirite settled in to overwatch mode.

Sparing brief glances back to the group, Cormac couldn't help but laugh under his breath and think that this group of cobbled together soldiers and bit of tech seemed like the beginning of a movie. "Just no dramatic deaths," he muttered to dispel any potential death flags.

Niall made his way in last, giving Cormac a bit of a sock to the shoulder as he passed his friend. Swiftly, the young marine made his way to the entry pad and started trying anything he could think of to get in. His passcode no longer worked, his handprint came up as unauthorized, even his encrypted ID card was of no use. The Ireshirite cursed a bit as option after option showed itself as invalid, and he began skimming through the Terminal's menu when he came across something- it appeared that every type of authorization had been blocked or changed, except for teo options.

"Well, it looks like we got two options ta get in- either fin' tha base commander... or.... someone with 'M' level authorization...." Niall set eyes on their current lookout- a sprcialist in the Magitek program, which gave him M level Authority.

Camilla had taken a post in the center of the room, watching everyone and tallying their search results. When Niall spoke up, her steely gaze fixed on him, then followed the marine's gaze to his companion. She glanced between them briefly, calculating. "Swap," she commanded.

Perking up, Cormac registered the new command, and felt a bit of pride well up in him. Trotting across the lobby, the elder Ireman returned the shoulder tap to his comrade before quickly moving to the panel. This was like in an RPG when you take an obscure are underutilized skill or stat, and then seeing a skill check pop up for it. All those mainline skills end up with a mad dash of players saying they can do it, but there is a special joy in being unique. Cracking his knuckles, Cormac planted his hand firmly on the scanner. "Yesss, Knowledge Engineering. Time to shine," Cormac whispered under his breath as the scanner lit up.

With a satisfying noise, the door unlocked. Turning back to the squad Cormac brushed his knuckles on his jacket. "Speak friend and enter," he quoted as he opened the door. Immediately he was back in business mode. Pistol out, he checked the corners as the others entered behind him.

This time it was Camilla who entered second. She secured the opposite corner then gave the all clear. A hand settled briefly on Cormac's shoulder. "First pick," she reaffirmed her offer, gesturing to the room around them.
