[Aside] A Daughter of 'Liberty'

Your target is three miles outside of the village. You are to attack the tank column, and destroy it before it can reach the village. Try not to be flashy, we don't need the world to know about you yet.
The little blonde looked over her orders again. She frowned, squinting against the sun in the hot desert, spotting the column of dust on the horizon- the Tanks had arrived right on schedule. Sabrina stood up from the low earthen wall she was sitting on, and dropped the parasol she had been given to shield herself- It vanished before touching the ground. Dusting off the back of her neat skirt, she began walking forward, extending a hand, in which a fancy, high-tech broomstick appeared, and then mounting the implement, and shooting off into the air.

Within moments, Sabrina was hurtling toward the ground, and the broomstick dematerialized, getting replaced by a large technological warhammer. She slammed into the ground, warhammer leading, and a brilliant flash of pinkish-white light accompanied a thunderous cracking sound as the ground around her impact point buckled and cracked, sending a shockwave through to earth and towards the tanks, sending the first two flying into the second two tanks in the column. behind them, the Column went into battle formation, mounts machine guns buzzing to life and firing on the small target at the head of their group. It was, of course, useless. Most of the shots didn't get anywhere near her, and those that did simply deflected away, as if she were wearing some impenetrable armor. She raced around to the side, and slammed into the side of one of the tanks, the warhammer sending it flying sideways, tracks shattering and turret separating, before it crashed down on top of the next tank, and burst into flame, and there was a total of six out of 12 tanks demolished, within thirty seconds.

Sabrina was up in the air again, as an RPG exploded where she had been standing, and the warhammer disappeared, replaced by a large, low slung cannon. This began firing immediately, the same pinkish-white light erupting from its bore in slow, long bursts, each one burning enormous holes in the hulls of the tanks they hit, but the girl was soon forced to move again as one of the tanks drew a bead on her, firing its main cannon. As she moved, a golden spell circle took her place, and the cannon shell impacted, slowed, and then rebounded, slamming against the turret of the tank that had fired it, denting the surface and blowing off the top hatch.

Once more, Sabrina was falling from the sky, this time the cannon had been replaced by a saber with an extremely technological-looking handle, pointed straight down. She landed sword first on top of the tank that had shot her, and began running across it, dragging the blade behind her, the crevice behind it erupting with a pink-white light. As Sabrina jumped off the back of the tank, its engine and gas tank exploded, ruffling Sabrina's outfit but nothing else. When the girl walked out of the flames, the final three tanks began backing up, firing profusely, but without any effect, as the golden circles bounded their shells back at them.

Finally, the girl stood her ground, the sword dismissed, replaced by a staff roughly the same height as herself. she pointed it at the three tanks, and began motioning with it, chanting something that was indiscernible over the ratatat of machine guns and roaring booms of tank cannons, but soon, the sands beneath the tanks gave them no purchase, and they began turning in strange directions, as the sands spun around in an immense vortex, drawing them up into the air and flinging them several hundred feet in several directions, where they smashed like tin cans as they impacted onto the hard compacted dirt that made up the desert landscape.

Sabrina sighed, relaxing, dismissing her staff and turning to face the burning mass of destruction she had left. "Maaan, why do they always gotta give me boring stuff?" she complained, pouting slightly, before once again summoning the broomstick. "Allrighty, Zephyr, let's get going. We've gotta be back at the base soon!" The broomstick didn't reply, as it wasn't exactly intelligent, but that didn't seem to bother the small blonde as she sped off into the distance.

1400 hours. The sun was up past its highest point, but hadn't exactly started going down yet. The day was hot. Blistering, even. Bright rays of the celestial orb beat down on the rocky desert ground, baking the rocks just that much browner. A previously abandoned complex stood curiously in the middle of the desolation, looking just as dead as it had when abandoned, as nobody wanted to go outside when they didn't have to. The main difference, outwardly, at least, was the fact that every single air conditioning unit was running, causing a roar of electric motors and compressors circulating coolant through their systems in a futile effort to defeat the sun and its dastardly heat. These sounds were of course joined by the laborious rattlings of generators providing power for the structure, though they were really just a ruse to hide the status of the building and keep the nosy complacent as to its use.

Deep underneath the complex, something else was afoot. Something much more complex. Something downright wicked, evil, disturbing even. Of course, someone had found out.

Away in the distance, a small cloud of dust billowed up behind something. It was difficult to see, blurred by the heat radiating from the hard-packed, parched earth of the desert floor, but it was there. one guard in a tower idly watched a television screen, not bothering to look outside. Surely, nobody would show up in this heat. Which is why it was a complete shock when somebody showed up. In this heat.

A sonic boom smashed throughout the grounds of the compound as the source of the dust made its appearance. A small girl clothed in a fancy skirt and blouse appeared, riding atop a silvery broom-like device. The device soon disappeared, and the small girl ran toward the main doors into the compound. She had burst them open with a single kick before anybody could react. The guards were dead before the alarm started sounding, but when it did, gunfire began rattling around the compound, aimed into those open doors. Nobody could see what they were shooting at, of course, as that dust cloud from before mingled with the dust in the air from the forcibly opened doors, rendering anyone inside invisible. Whitish-pink beams lashed out from the entryway, each one expertly hitting a source of gunfire, and within a minute, the outer guards were gone.

Inside, the dust was beginning to settle. Doors had been locked, and soldiers placed at corners, all taking cover and aiming down the hallway. They opened fire as the girl appeared once more, this time holding a large cannon. A ball of light similar to before was emerging from its barrel, growing with every second. it seemed to absorb every single bullet shot at it, until finally it could wait no longer and burst forth, Speeding down the hallway, trailing fire and lightning in its wake, forcing those firing down the hallway to get back or else suffer a horrible fate of being burnt alive. The ball, however, didn't seem to care. It made its way till the hallway ended, and slammed into the wall, crushing through and bursting forth to reveal a shaft, which had apparently been sealed from normal view. Another flash of light made its way down the hallway, bouncing from wall to wall and corner to corner, before stopping near the hole the girl had made. a sound of bodies falling simultaneously was heard, as the light revealed itself to be the unknown assailant, clutching a thin wandlike rod in one hand, and a dripping, bloodied combat knife in the other. She shook the blood off the knife and dropped it, where it disappeared into nothing before it could touch the ground.

her next move was to simply hop down the shaft, Freefalling into the darkness below. Soon, dim blue lighting overtook the girl's view, and she muttered a few words, waving the rod and causing her descent to stop, just mere feet above the bottom of the shaft. More words, and the doors burst open, revealing another hallway, this one much cooler, lined in stainless steel. A door opened, revealing a shocked guard, but before he could react, a gunshot was heard, and he fell backward into the room, a single bullet hole in his forehead. The girl threw the gun up into the air, and it, too, disappeared. Purposefully, the girl continued to walk forward, towards the end of the corridor. Every a door opened, the same result came- a gun, in her hand from nowhere, would fire a single shot, killing whomever it was immediately, before being tossed aside, disappearing into nothingness.

The girl, however, had a curious expression. It was a serious one, but it also spoke of something different. The girl was holding something inside, almost as if she were about to vomit. It was odd how calmly and coldly she executed each one of her targets, but every time she did so, a look of pain grew on her face, as if she was holding back more and more. It was too late. she could not stop now, though. Not until the mission was complete. Her goal was only a few yards away by now, and soon, it had arrived. A door at the end of the hallway. She pushed it open, and it revealed an enormous laboratory. Strewn about the room were test stations, experiments, and complicated equipment, as well as four large cylindrical tanks full of liquid. Within each tank, floated A young human- roughly the girl's age. A different kind of gun appeared this time, and the girl opened fire, whitish-pink bursts mowing down the scientists in this room, her face turning into a grimace of anguish, rage, and pain as she extinguished the lives of the white-coated individuals around the room.

"WHY MUST YOU DO BAD THINGS???" she screamed at the top of her lungs, but no answer came as each and every scientist died. However, one of blasts from the strange weapon flew wide, and struck one of the tanks. It burst, and the occupant was sucked out, ripping her out of the restraints and life support devices keeping her in stasis within the tank. as her eyes began to flutter open, the first girl rushed forward, and scooped the 'experiment' up in her arms. "I won't let them hurt you anymore" she sobbed, but whether she was trying to comfort herself or the newly awakening girl was a mystery.

Three days ago.
Sabrina stood, her back against the wall, taking cover. It was her first time fighting inside a building. Before, she had only fought against tanks, planes, and helicopters, but today was different. She was raiding a small information hub, looking for the computers and databases of the group that she had been fighting against, a little known terrorist group that were working on some very advanced projects. Right now, however, none of that mattered. There were bullets flying everywhere, down the hallway, through the widows, occasionally even bursting through the wall near a corner. Sabrina's MANTLE was more than enough to stop her from being injured, but if she was focusing on defense so much she wouldn't have enough magic to fight well, so she now used the wall as a barrier. Sighing, Sabrina used a sight portal summoned by her snapdragon Channel in order to see around the corner. There were three bad guys. They had on armor, and helmets, and were shooting at her. Naturally, they had to be bad. Still, this had been shocking. She had never fought people before, just big metal things.

Sabrina was worried. She didn't want to hurt anybody. Her job was to save people, and she wanted to save everyone, even the bad people. But how? She couldn't talk to them, they didn't understand her. She couldn't put them to sleep- she didn't have any magic or grenades that did that. The Stun grenades had already been used, and by now the people she had used them on were back in the fight. She Dismissed Snapdragon, and called out the Peacemaker. It looked like an old wild west revolver, but more squared off, with pink accents on the polished silver frame and grip. maybe this can work... she thought, peering around the corner- More bullets. Sabrina grimaced. "ELASTIC BARRIER!" she yelled, and the golden circle appeared in the hallway- the bullets ricocheting off of the barrier and flying willy nilly around the hallway, beating up the walls, smashing out the few remaining windows, and a few even bouncing off the body armor the soldiers were wearing. Shocked, they stopped firing.

Sabrina took the chance. She was around the corner within a moment, snapdragon firing pinkish bursts, hitting the men square in the chest and knocking them down and back, allowing Sabrina to barrel down the hall as fast as her legs would carry her. She dove behind some cover as more soldiers rounded the opposite corner, opening fire once more. MANTLE flared up as it was obvious Sabrina's cover was nowhere near adequate. Another grimace. Sabrina looked around, and spotted the three bad guys. They were perfectly still. She shook the image out of her head, she didn't want any of this. As the bullets continued, Sabrina began hyperventilating. What do I do? she thought to herself, her eyes growing wider and her heart racing. I need to stop the badguys... She raised snapdragon to fire, but the implement was immediately hit with a bullet, flinging it out of Sabrina's hand. She dismissed it before it could hit the ground, but it didn't look good. Snapdragon was hurt.

More hyperventilating. Sabrina's mind raced, she looked around. A pause- they had stopped firing to reload. Sabrina really had no other choice. She summoned a grenade, and pulled the pin like she had been taught. Make the badguys go away! she pleaded to the destructive device, tossing it over her cover. In a few seconds, it detonated, and the screams of the men rang through Sabrina's ears as she heard them die. Slowly, Sabrina rose, looking at the shattered bits of shrapnel stuck in the walls. The end of the hallway was sprinkled in red. Sabrina looked down Three more, dead. One's helmet was partially off, and she could see blood trickling down the body's chin. Sabrina immediately fell to the floor, and vomited, unable to stand the sight of what she had just done. They're dead. I killed them. They're dead. I killed them Her mind repeated, racing faster and faster with each repetition. She vomited again.

Slowly, weakly, Sabrina stood up, and began walking forward, like a ghost. She had gone pale, and the front of her dress had been dirtied heavily, spittle and sick dribbling down her chin. She moved forward. It was the last room. She opened the door. At one end, there were two people huddling. Sabrina could see their faces. They were scared. Afraid. They did not want to die. "I don't want to hurt you!" Sabrina pleaded. "I just need your computers, and I'll leave you alone." she pleaded. They did not understand English. The closer one pulled out a gun, shakily pointing it at Sabrina, but before they could pull the trigger, a gun had materialized in the girl's hand. Two trigger pulls. Two gunshots. Two more bodies. As they fell over, expiring, Sabrina slowly broke into tears, fighting back sobs. Why did they do this? why didn't they just leave well enough alone? She was going to leave them be! But now. Now she had killed them. She had killed others too. Inside, Sabrina suspected all the big machines she had destroyed had had people in them too.

Sabrina broke into a sobbing laughter. it was entirely mirthless, full of sadness and strife. As she laughed, she walked forward, grabbing the computers she had been sent to get and storing them in Null space. Sabrina threw a few chairs out the windows, and pulled out Magnitude. With the hammer in her hand, she began to smash everything in the room, still laughing and crying, occasionally breaking into fits of screaming. After several minutes of this, Sabrina had had enough. She collapsed to the floor and sobbed for a few more minutes. They would be waiting for her. She was done with the mission. Maybe they would be happy that she had completed it. But she wouldn't be happy.

She was a murderer.
