It took a LOT of Willow's self control not to be snarky with Miss Jane, but she also didn't want to resort to making excuses for herself. She could easily point out that she had been an official apprentice for all of two hours, the point at which she had disembarked from her plane; she hadn't even had a chance to unpack her things, and it was nigh a miracle the she wasn't jetlagged. Mealla had given her a brief lesson in what to expect, but had kept it brief in favor of Ruarc providing the lesson; whereas Ruarc so far had mainly given her a brief tour and said the formal training would start tomorrow. Guessing was an option, as she could go off of pop culture representations of druids, but she figured human sacrifices or changing into an animal probably went actual things that druids did.

"Try suggesting that through careful rune application, the wards could diverted, like using a decoy," the odd voice whispered in her ear again, but Willow was still unable to discern it's origin when she looked around.

"Uh, a druid could use runes to distract whatever defences are in place. So, like an electrical short circuit? Yeah, and while the ward is distracted you could be free to rummage around at will, maybe even look for those hidden drawers," Willow answered, repeating the suggestion she had heard.

Vrey pulled her chin closer towards one of her shoulders - her facing and eyes becoming hidden from Jane's view. The girl's lazing claim of her desk suddenly turning disinterest to disengagement. The bald teen was clearly feeling the need to entrench herself from some perceived assault.

Hands slid off from their position atop the desk, Vrey's finger tips found each other as they popped down into her lap. Fingers danced upon each other in random spidering patterns before the teen spoke. "The spirit-" Vrey's words were spoken into her shoulder, but her monotonous voice had been modulated to be loud enough to overcome such an obstacle. "-is a blackguard." With a quick shift and pivot the bald girl's chin was propping her head upon her desk - both her eyes boring a stare towards the spirit in question. "It values a need to disabuse me of any possessive notions of value periphery to notions of my self. Gnashing teeth-" Her chin holding steady, Vrey's mouth snapped open and shut the movement punctuated by the clap of teeth on teeth. "-is the cut of the colour of deals."

After the brief silence, Jane was delighted to hear such promising answers from the pair of neophytes. Admittedly, she was now feeling wary about the spirit within, but it could be addressed with Ruarc at a later time. For now, she had a mostly eager class to teach.

"Fine start ladies, even those o' ye still wet behind ye ears. Now, let's see what y'all ken about horses." The Horse With No Name, which had been grazing silently in the corner was spurred to violent action by a slap on the rump. He sprinted to the rear of the classroom and began bucking wildly, occasionally popping desks into the air to twirl in dangerous arcs.

"Pacify the Horse, if y'all'd be so kind." She stood behind her desk with arms folded across her chest, but remained standing. There should be no immediate danger, but she would be ready to act should things go awry.

Katerina's eyes widened when their instructor made her horse (Whom had thusfar been so well behaved as to have been largely forgotten) go wild and begin bucking around the classroom. as desks and chairs began to fly about, she summoned up as much dust and dirt from the room as well as through the windows as she could, and created a wall between the students and the horse- it wasn't very large, but it was enough for them to duck behind for cover if they so decided it to be necessary, which Kat promptly did, simply to give herself a safe place to think about it.

She'd had equestrian lessons in the past, and was quite familiar with how to ride, and care for a horse, but she had never been tasked with, nor had the need of, placating one. "I could try to give it something it wants?" she muttered aloud, in a questioning tone, thinking of how she might give it some more oats, or even some water, though where she'd find a container for either of those was escaping her at the moment.

Willow sat for a few moments longer than needed blinking in disbelief. She genuinely had no clue what to do; she had no experience dealing with horses, and had no idea what kind of magic would come in handy. The voice from before also wasn't contributing anything, so the young Brit was at a loss.

"Ooooookay, horses," Willow said as she stood up and walked around the desks towards the horse. Feeling understandably nervous, she told herself that Miss Smith wouldn't issue this challenge if it was terribly dangerous.

Holding her hands up in front of the horse, Willow began to make hushing noises from about ten feet away.

Everything had been going so well.

For once, Willow didn't say something dumb, but instead spouted something off about runes. This, of course, prompted an actual eye-roll from the scribe, who made no effort to hide the motion from anyone, especially Willow. Even Vrey said something probably insightful about the desk itself. That was something, even if it was hard to understand what the girl was saying. Unlike before, she made a strong attempt not to show an eye-rolling motion in the wake of Vrey's suggestion, if not to preserve what manner of misunderstanding that Drysi chose to persist between the two.

Then, the horse began to move. The sudden movement of the beast drove such a panic into Drysi that she went tumbling out of her desk. One thing that was almost as bad as druids were their companions, animals. Dogs, Cats, Birds, Bees, Horses, Platypuses, and all the other kinds of dirty creatures that wallowed out in the dirt were unsettling to Drysi, especially bugs. So, as the Horse went kicking, she went crawling behind Katerina's dust wall.

She sputtered, words failing her as she haphazardly yanked some paper from her pack and slapped it onto the floor. Hastily she began to scribe a spell onto the paper.

With much effort, she looked up at Katerina, with a bit of panic in her eyes, pausing her writing, "When that thing kills Willow, and eats your hand, I want you to use your other hand to slap it with this."

Quickly she dove back on the sheet, trying to subdue her nerves as she continued writing, "It's a sleep spell, if you read it, and touch the Horse with it... It should... um... at least make it sleepy."

Standing up abruptly Vrey made her way not towards the horse that had just been injected irately into their lesson, but come to a stop in front of the desk Jane had been commanding from. Bowing, shortly and only at the neck, the teen frowned heavily.

"Pardons." The hairless girl's brow set down heavier. "I must make rude to the spirit in residency-" A gauntlet covered finger folded out to point at the desk. "-here."

Without waiting for a response Vrey crouched down and rocked forward until her forehead clonked against the wooden structure.

The spirit within immediately responded. It did not want what she was here - she shouldn't have been allowed to exist. She was something that wasn't a 'she' and could only amount to the most violent of nothings. She should be bottled, and drawn, and snuffed out. Vrey hummed near silently as the tirade continued.

"Consumption." Vrey broke the spirit's train as she spoke allowed. "Consumables?"

The spirit shivered violently causing the very wood of its housing to squeak sharply as the movement was replicated physically. It was not worth eating. It had only lived for a scant hundreds of years - a time unacceptable to something that could count in the timeless. It could make its passing difficult in all manners a passing could be. The staff would not want it to be eaten. It had strength and would lash out. It did not want it to be eaten.

"Not for me." Vrey stated monotonously.

The spirit did not understand. It knew what she was and knew that this was a trick.

Shaking her head with her forehead still plastered against the desk, Vrey raised one hand and added a gauntlet as a new voice for the conversation.

Not for her. Kitchens?

The teen moved so that her nose was now touching the desk and she could shift to lay her eyes on Jane. "Oats?" The girl asked the teacher before sliding back down out of view. "Oats." Vrey repeated to the desk. "Fruit. Thin for skin. And wet, crunch, juice for flesh."

Apples.

The spirit did not understand. Despite this, the spirit spoke. It spoke and told and made questions of the statements it was asked.

Breaking contact with the desk Vrey nodded to the spirit as her face shifted blank. "Apologies."

Walking over to a window the teen tapped one and found the portal to be locked. Making full contact between the window and one of her hands Vrey blinked once and then green tendrils began seeping out where they must have been trapped between the glass and her palm. Where each touched the glass there were small, high pitched screams from the material - though the glass itself remained unmarred. As the myriad of vibrant feelers flattened and reached and traveled about they finally slipped around towards the lock. As soon as the first one had found the mechanism the rest of them swarmed into existence around it - as if they hadn't been anywhere else previously. Compared to the glass the lock was silent as it was engulfed.

Without retracting, without moving the tendrils disappeared - the lock gone alongside them.

Pushing the window open Vrey twisted so she was holding on to the edge and already outside the building looking in. Her eyes looked onto the horse that was to be treated. "Oats. Apples?" Then the teen trailed her vision across everyone else. Her open expression suggesting that everyone could add their own input for wherever she was attempting to go.

A mischievous smile played on Jane's lips. Given the suddenness of the situation, all four of them were responding remarkably well. Each had taken an independent approach, however, which she mentally noted for review.

No Name had gone from blind rage to focused anger. He was spinning about and kicking at the furniture nearby, clattering against walls and off each other. As Willow neared, he reared up and flailed his forelegs in warning. She was still far from his reach, but even at this distance it was plain that he was a large and powerful horse.

Otherwise, the schoolchildren were ignored by the beast and his tantrum, though a chair and a couple desks did meet Katerina's barrier. One desk settled to the floor before it while the other two items skittered away in opposite directions. A more direct shot, though, would likely push the little mage's barrier to the limits.

"Eep!" Willow gasped as the large horse continued to buck. She kept her arms raised, part in defence, part to try and calm the horse, and inched closer ever so slightly.

"EeeEasy there," her voice was wavering. "Niiiiice horse."

"Try to die with some dignity!" called Drysi from behind the barrier, before yelping in response to the wall being shaken. She threw a spiteful look at Katerina, blaming her for the ruckus caused by the chair, "Can't you make something more solid?"

With a groan, she began to finish out with the spell she was scribing. Her skill in inscription was apparent, as the smooth shapes made artistic words on the paper. When she was satisfied with the incantation, she began making careful markings around individual words. The cursive letters sparked to life in a bright, purple glow; Drysi gasped in excitement, looking at Kat, and then the others.

"It's ready! It's ready! Someone," She waved the paper around, looking for a volunteer, "read this and slap that beast with it!"
