"Hugh!" That was the sound Arcadia made when she dropped onto her back in the sand. Today had been quite the workout! She'd totally forgotten it was virtual by this point, though there's no doubt someone would soon remind her. For the time being, though, she laid there and relaxed on that virtual beach, giving her virtual muscles some virtual time to rest. The only thing she needed to complete the day was a warm- not hot- shower and... well, she wasn't at liberty to admit the second part. Turning her head to one side, she watched the congratulations on both sides of the net with a faint smile. Before this wonderful excursion, these people were nothing but colleagues and co-workers out to "save the world" with her. It was impossible to look at them like they were normal human beings. Then lo and behold, a chance to be normal comes upon them... and her outlook changed. Arcadia couldn't tell you how long that would last- if at all- but it was refreshing. Real people having real moments with each other out in this fine paradise.

I'm getting a beach. Yes, that's right. Pilot Langdon decided at that very moment she was going to purchase herself some beachfront property. Obviously not right away, not even tomorrow; there was still a war to fight and one she would dutifully see to the end. But she would have that beachfront property, mark her words... err, thoughts.

P.S. Fuck the Drathonians.

Steven looked up at Betty from his place in the sand and returned a slight smile of his own. “Well thanks, Betty,” the captain said in reply as he reached up and grabbed the other pilot’s hand to pull himself up; noting a fair amount of sand that was sticking to his back. Once he was standing again Steven looked around at his team.
“Good job everyone, that was one hell of a game,” he called to the players. “Arcadia, you are pretty good. You to Betty and Ruze,” Steven went on to say before turning over to Fred, “And that was a pretty good block, Fred.”

“Now that is a relatively mild tone, Ms. Elfriede, but yeah, I suppose I was pretty cool now wasn’t I? So, didn’t you promise me a kiss if I won the game for us?” Fred said in a mostly joking manner.

Betty hands quickly went to work after seeing all the sand caked on Steven's back. Her smooth fingers rubbed and pressed to get it off, while the Captain went to congratulate everyone a good game. She turned her head, and looked over at Arcadia, who was still lying down on her back. Betty gave her a short smile as she worked. "Comfortable down there?" she asked, a certain tired air off her words.

Miyuki brought her legs in towards the end of the game and rubbed was left of the blood under her nose, and tears under her eyes. She was glad to have let out that strain plaguing her heart. She missed her old friend, and even her new friends, including Johnathan, were there for her, the loss was still something too difficult to get over immediately. The small Japanese girl looked up at the man next to her and then pulled her attention back to her toes, and wiggled them a little in the sands. After seeming so depressing, Miyuki couldn't find many words to say. That was until victory was had, and something else could be discussed!

"Dehy wohnb!" went the stuffed up Miyuki before rapidly turning to Johnathan and presenting the blood-covered shirt him, "I'm sorry, douh you wahnt dhis bahck nohw? I wohn'bt juhb you if you dohn'bt, ihs goht ahll of mahy nabsty bloohd ohn it."

Allison was quiet at that, never one to draw attention, and quietly inter-locked her fingers behind her back as her shoulders rose. This was somewhat her way, to be reserved and peaceful, since garnering attention usually meant her butt was going to get called out, too. That was, until Hetzer came up from behind, placing his hand on her shoulder, a row smiling teeth revealing themselves under the magnificently groomed beard. If Hetzer's face was ice cream, his beard would be chocolate and his smile would be vanilla, which owned up to how good they were. Allison smiled back up at the tall man, both of them silently exchanging congratulations, before all eyes came down on Elfriede.

Elfriede could feel the strain of an audience following the victory of the fight. She had celebrated momentarily, and then immediately tried to fall out of this abrasively loud streak she had been having. It was nice for her to let loose every once in a while, but when she did, it got her in trouble, specifically with her tempting of the irishman. Honestly, there was no shame in kissing him, he was tall, strong, and handsome. Yet, there was a certain hesitation to do it right there, out in front of everyone, what with all the stares. The stares were what got to her. When people stared, she felt like they were looking at her disfiguring scars. She took pride in them, but at times, the eyes made her doubt.

Still, the german woman would not be held back by that mere reservation. She had promised him a kiss, and they had one, and she supposed he deserved it. So, Elfriede, wordless striding on the sand to get face to face with Fred, grabbed the Irishman by the jaw and literally brought his mouth to hers. Her soft lips pressed up against his for only a few seconds before she let him go, and she leaned back a bit, looking a little haughty, what with her hands moving to rest up on her hips.

"Well well, Rote Mann." the german said, a snarky smugness on her face, "Was it worth the victory?"

“Erin go Bragh,” Fred said as he stumbled back slightly after Elfriede’s kiss. At which point an odd set of emotions tried to be conveyed all at once on the Irishman’s face, such as embarrassment, amusement, and joy. A simple smile crossed his face as he thought of a suitable retort.
“Lass true to her word, eh? Yeah, I would say that a kiss from a lovely woman is a pretty good victory prize,” Fred said proudly as he reached and rubbed his jaw in the place where Elfriede had pulled him. “Ya know they say tha’ kissin’ an Irishman is the next best thing ta kissin’ the Blarney Stone? So you also benefit from the kiss as well.” A subtle slyness was evident under the Irishman’s grin as he crossed his arms in response to the German woman’s confident pose.

Whatever Steven was going to do next, he paused and became sidetracked as Betty began brushing the sand off of his back. He looked back over his shoulder at the younger woman rubbing her hands across his back. As an aside he tossed a kind, “Why thank you, Betty.”
The captain looked up at the sky and noticed the virtual sun drawing close to the horizon. “Well, I would say she has earned the rest,” Steven said upon hearing Betty speak to Arcadia, “We all have.” With that said Steven stretched his tired muscles and thought that a fire pit would be a good wrap up for the day.

Arcadia smiled up at Betty blissfully. "Dreamy." When she was complimented, there was no response. She was too busy enjoying her freshly laid bed of skin-tingling sand. Eyes were closed, lips held the curve of a smile, and arms and legs were splayed lackadaisically.

Money couldn't buy that kind of ludicrous, unadulterated joy.
