It seemed a little time to rest had everyone behaving much more professionally- even Asher was making legitimate suggestions and speaking in a manner that wasn't flinging insults every other sentence. It was a wonderful change of pace, to be sure.

"If there's a ladder, that would be preferable, but no vents: last thing we need to do is go crawling around in confined spaces with the infected lurking everywhere. Who knows if those are safe at all." Then was also a good time to do a little logistics as they'd yet to organize the group as thoroughly as the Lieutenant liked. He paired the two nameless survivors to either Kai or Cibo, Destiny with himself, and Asher with Adrian. in addition, he made sure Evelyn was in his charge, and that Mortego was clustered with Kai. Everyone accounted for and confident that it was a proper and effective organization of the available resources, Garrett encouraged a curt decision from the Commanding Officer. "Your call, Nakamura."

"It appears that this particular elevator does have a ladder on the outside, but as it lacks a safety cage, it is probably less safe than our rappelling lines." Evelyn pointed out. "If you simply must, you may go down the ladder, but the Elevator is probably safer."

"She has a point." Kai said, looking down the 200 foot sheer drop to the bottom of the chamber. There seemed to be plenty of places to attach the rappelling line to, and the metal near the top was sturdy enough to hold several times the weight of their group. "Allright, 215, let's go down now, and then anybody who wants to go down the ladder can come right after us. Wait till at least the marines are all the way down before starting the Elevator if you're gonna use it, otherwise, I advise everyone to use stealth as much as possible until everyone is down, and then we can assault the mecha storage thing." With that Kai attached his cable to the top of the elevator, and sidled out towards the far edge, before beginning his descent. Evelyn followed suit, and next came Mortego.

Destiny, for her part, looked at the ladder and then the Elevator, then back. Not wanting to be outdone by the loner, the guys in her group decided to go down the ladder as well, so she sighed and waited with them for the marines to get out of the way.

Asher stepped by the marines and went towards the ladder. The young Surandanian man stared down the length, all two hundred feet of it, and sighed. "Well if we're still goin' down tha' elevator, than there ain't any point in usin' tha' quiet way." He turned back towards the elevator and stepped on, he let a wistful sigh, "At tha' very least, this'n's a lazier option."

if Asher was intent on taking the Elevator, Cibo was going to take the stairs. Or ladder, in this case. "Ladies first." She quickly remarked, carefully hopping onto the old ladder. The Intelligence Agent then began to carefully slide down the ladder in a stylish manner; even in this apocalypse, there was a faint glimmer of a happier time with this. As a kid, Cibo liked doing the same at the military compound her mother worked at with Dart...

''$%&' Went her thoughts. 'Even when that inbred lizard isn't here, he's ruining everything!' Cibo then thought that things couldn't get any worse at the very least. She instantly regretted tempting fate.

"That's a good idea, flat-chest!" said Asher after Cibo mockingly, finding a good opportunity to jab at the short-fused officer again. He escaped the elevator for a just a moment to make his way over to the ladder. He had his head stuck out, crying out just loud enough to where she could hear him. "Since you ain't got nothin' t'hit on tha' rungs, goin' down this iss' perfect for ya!"

Sqeeeeeeeeek.

Cibo came to a full stop, and simply stared up at the degenerate; even though she was wearing a face mask, the overall impression was that Asher's head was supposed to burst into flames. Sadly for Cibo, she wasn't Admiral Evelyn, so that didn't happen. Happily, for everyone else, Cibo wasn't Admiral Evelyn; nobody, absolutely nobody knew of what would happen if she were the one, except for one thing. Her first order of business would have been to set Asher's crotch on fire. And then the rest of him. Cibo started sliding down the ladder again.

Hendlow was forced to suppress a chuckle, and he did so quite graciously. Even so, he also knew when it was time to cut out all the jabbing. He made sure to make it clear to Asher as well with a curt, "Cut it now, Asher. We've got bigger things to worry about." While talking, he hooked himself to a reliable piece of steel the function and purpose of which he did not know. That it would hold his weight was all about which the Lieutenant was concerned. That said, he threw himself over the chasm, prodding his squadron on with a cheeky, "See you at the bottom." His boots struck the wall and his legs absorbed the shock much easier than anticipated. He made quick work to catch up and then match pace with Malinowsky. Garrett took a moment then to speak to her on a discreet channel. "Don't let him get to you, Malinowsky. We need you focused."

When the outside group made it to the bottom, they tried to be as quiet as possible, but that didn't last long as they almost immediately came across a number of the mutants, whom, suddenly noticing the movement of such a large group, immediately began to congregate toward them. Once the first shots were fired, the Elevator group knew they didn't need to hide anymore and could now start the lift. As the doors closed, the lift began descending, at first a bit slowly, but then as the crust of 15 years broke off of the lubrication system, it picked up speed, though, the loud noise only attracted more mutants.

"Cibo, Hendlow, I need you two to go back toward the hangar that the Admiral pointed out and secure it for our buddies in the elevator!" Kai called, firing on the slowly advancing zombies. They had managed to secure a small portion of the cavern, but it was looking to become crowded in the near future, and any help they could get needed to come quickly.

“Lieutenant, we'll need a bit more fire power than we got right now if we want to survive this one.” Adrian remarked off handedly as he looked at the incoming mutants through his scope.

One. Two. Three– hold! The sniper's muscles remained still as he held his breathe and pulled the trigger on his rifle. The regressor round tore through a line of mutants killing outright a half-dozen or so of the creatures, spinning a few others wildly into their fellows, and ripping the arm from at least one of the mutants.

A grin on the older marines face, Adrian went through the long steps to reload his heavy weapon. “Not that I really mind things as they are right now Sir, but I am a bit worried about how I'll feel in five minutes or so.”

As Adrian lined up his next shot a frown appeared on his face and he realigned his rifle to take out one of the... “pyooka's” as Asher had so flavourfully named the acid spitting mutants.

The particle weapon's muzzle flashed like a strobe light as Cibo fired while on the move, making her way to the hangar to clear it out alongside the other Lieutenant. Her feet pounded as she moved like a goddess in comparison to the heavily armored marine, nimbly weaving through obstacles, and even slowing down to make sure he didn't fall behind. She fired again, each time she waited for Hendlow to catch up. "Any chance we can get these Mechs operational? They're slower than Asher's brain, but they have firepower!" She yelled out over her shoulder, scanning the hangar as she moved deeper.

'I hate to say this, but where's an alien killing machine when you need him?!'
