====== Vampire Society ====== An age old society that is not well known to the mortal world, the Vampire Society is a society made up entirely of vampires, from your regulars to the aristocrats and then purebloods. The society's goal is to ensure that Vampires continue to live within the realm of humans, feeding off them for their blood and life-force in order to stay alive for the next several hundred years. The society is made up of both the citizenry, which is your regular vampires, and then there is the governing body known as the senate which is made up of aristocrats and then the high-council, which is comprised entirely of pureblood vampires. The goal behind the society isn't just to ensure a vampires longevity but to also make certain no vampire crosses the line of attacking one another, or to anger local human populations to the point of being hunted down by their arch-nemesis - the Vampire Hunter Society. This is largely because the Vampire Hunter Society employs weapons specifically designed to combat a vampires natural regenerative abilities. ===== History ===== The history behind the Vampire Society dates back thousands of years, but is largely unknown to the general populace, even governments aren't really aware of their existence. This is exactly how the society wanted it to be, knowing full well that being exposed out in the open to the public could lead to their extinction. The society was founded so long ago, that the records of it's founding were lost during the first major war against humans, this war was one started for the sake of gaining territory so that Vampires could thrive in relative peace. However, the war - which had taken place in an isolated area of the world located between several mountains, was one of the bloodiest in the societies history with over a thousand vmapires killed and many more humans. This war, however, ultimately lead to the creation of the vampires greatest enemy. After the war, the society went underground, where they began to recoup their losses and start to set up in small outlying villages or towns. Eventually, after several hundred years, the society was able to expand outward from it's home in Russia. Russia has always been their home territory because of how cold it gets, there are less people around and thus it makes it easier for the society to thrive, their only concern is the Hunter Society which occasionally trespasses on their territory in an effort to kill some of their numbers in the name of 'keeping them in check' However, hunters weren't the only that they discovered were a threat to them but also people who were able to use magic or mana to cast spells. In the year of 1932, a group of Vampires expanded into the United States and started up a branch of the society in the norther part of the country where it is coldest. This society ran for nearly forty one years before it was wiped out by the Hunter Society, but the branch was restarted in 1984. When the Second World War came around, the Vampire Society found itself thrust into the war due to Germany's invasion of Russia. The society was able to assist the Russian army in a limited capacity by killing off German officers who intruded into their territory, this eventually lead to parts of Russia being declared 'off-limits' by the German High Command due to 'mysterious losses', however this didn't stop 'some' German officers from investigating some areas of Russia that were off-limits. Although these officers soon vanished without a trace. It was during the WW2 that the Russian government discovered the Vampire Society, but instead of condemning them to death or seeking to destroy them, the government actually made them their allies and helped shelter the society from those who want to kill them, this relationship has been a fruitful one for both sides. In 1977 the society expanded it's borders into several countries, including Tokyo Japan where the pureblood vampire known as Joseph Ijuin was put in charge of this society. The branch in Japan was considered a huge success by the High Council, as Joseph had successfully turned a large number of humans into vampires - targeting areas outside of the main cities where the presence of hunters or anyone who might pick up on their scent would be present. The number of vampires had begun to dwindle though starting the year of 2000. This was largely due to many Purebloods running out of reasons to live, and quietly passing away in their sleep or by letting themselves get attacked and killed by hunters. The numbers had gone from just over three hundred to below twenty by the year of 2009, although the number of Aristocrats and regular Vampires had started to soar during those times. ===== Races ===== There are five different types of vampires, ranging from the royal Purebloods to the Hethions. All vampires share a few common traits, including eyes that can glow red and enhancements to strength over that of regular humans. However, aristocrats and purebloods possess either elemental based powers or psyhic/telekinetic abilities. However, all vampires- with the exception of Beserkers and Hethions, can either temporarily paralyze or 'influence' a human in going with them for a limited amount of time. ==== Pureblood ==== A pureblood is a vampire who possess no human DNA, pureblood vampires are not only the strongest within the society but also the smartest. No other vampire can defy them, nor can any other vampire kill them except for another pureblood. This is because a pureblood is capable of 'forcing' another vampire to submit to them, this includes aristocrats. A pureblood possess a number of telekinetic and psychokinetic abilities, making them particularly dangerous to face unprepared. A pureblood is recognized easily by the aura they give off, thus it is impossible for other vampires to mistake them for anything but a pureblood. A pureblood has the longest life-span, capable of living thousands of years or more. ==== Aristocrats ==== An aristocrat is a vampire who has some form of human DNA in them, but is still leagues above that of a regular vampire. Aristocrats are the ability to force lesser vampires under their control but they are incapable of forcing a pureblood under their control - in fact quite the opposite - Aristocrats while they can't be 'forced' to follow a pureblood typically do so out of respect for the fact that purebloods is extremely rare. Aristocrats are dangerous because they can posses multiple different types of abilities, including those spun off from nature itself or are capable of utilizing parts of their bodies as weapons - an example being making their nails long to resemble claws or even using their own blood as a weapon. Aristocrats and Purebloods are the only ones capable of biting a person and turning them into a vampire, without running the risk of them turning into something else. ==== Vampires ==== A common term given to anyone who has been turned from a human after being bitten. These particular vampires are considered the 'bottom' of the barrel, although there are two others below them. These vampires lack the ability to resist Aristocrats or Purebloods, and thus can't say no to orders given by them although they can question them. Being bitten from a vampire is paramount to a death sentence, this is because a Vampire doesn't have the same capabilities as that of an Aristocrat or Pureblood, thus people bitten by a Vampire will either turn into Beserkers or Hethions. Vampires have very few abilities beyond utilizing weapons or simple spells. ==== Beserkers ==== Beserkers are people who changed into vampires but are vampires who are not under full control of the society, they are considered a danger to the society and are often hunted by other vampires in order to prevent them from completely unraveling the fragile 'peace' that exists between the society and some human organizations. Beserkers are so dangerous, that it takes groups of vampires in order to put down - a pureblood however can kill them easily. ==== Hethions ==== A taboo amongst the society is the art of turning children into vampires, a child's body isn't capable of withstanding the blood from a vampire, this turns them into 'Hethions', these are basically beserkers but on a whole different level. They are very fast, very agile, and dangerous - they lack spells and only have their feet and claws to attack but are an event match for a group of aristocrats due to their speeds and numbers. Any vampire found biting a child as young as ten is typically put to death, as children below that age have a strong chance of turning into Hethions, while children above that age may turn into regular vampires. ===== Governing Body ===== ==== High Council ==== The high council is the highest governing body of the Vampire Society, made up entirely of purebloods, they are the 'masters' of the society. As a pureblood is considered a 'master', even the senate which is made up of all aristocrats can't defy the high council. ==== Senate ==== Made up of Aristocrats, the senate purpose is to keep a watchful eye on the society and other vampires. Unless orders come down from the High Council, they are actually considered the ones in charge, they are capable of giving out execution orders on other vampires or even on troublesome humans. ===== Branches ===== Separate from the government body are branches of the society that handle specific tasks. ==== Execution Branch ===== This particular branch handle all manners of in-society executions such as vampires who have betrayed the society or those who committed a taboo. The branch is operated by an aristocrat. ==== Expansion Branch ==== A branch dedicated to expanding the society into other parts of the world. ==== Historical Keeping Branch ==== This branch is dedicated entirely to the recording and keeping of historical records pertaining to the society and its actions throughout history. ===== Territories ===== ==== Russia ==== Russia is the main territory that the Vampire Society inhabits, they make their home is a secluded mountain pass where the majority of the society actually lives. * **Population Count:** 10,900 ==== England ==== England was another area that the society expanded into over the years, it is their second largest holding. * **Population Count:** 4,300 ==== United States ==== The US is another territory of the society and their third largest, but it's also their most contested. * **Population Count:** 2,400 ==== Japan ==== One of the last territories that the society expanded into, and thus has the lowest population. Japan is considered more of a 'training area' for Vampires who are coming of age. * **Population Count:** 498 ==== Various other territories ==== Including places such as China, Australia, South Korea, Mexico, and Canada to name a few, these were areas that have a very small presence. Australia especially due to it being the home of the Vampire Hunter Society. * **Population Count in total:** 3,923 ===== Known Members ===== ^ Members ^ Position ^ Notes ^ | [[om:character:ijuin_joseph|Ijuin Joseph]] | Pureblood | Member of the High Council, in charge of Japan Society |
