====== Hastati Graves ====== |//I am son of the River Nile, never idle, nor moving without purpose.// - Graves| ===== General Information ===== * **Played By:** [[users:Blackbird Lore]] * **Age:** 25 * **Height:** 5'5" * **Weight:** 150 lbs. * **Species:** Terran * **[[:Certifications]]:** BO, Starship Ordnance, Starship Command, Fleet Command * **[[:ranks|Rank]]:** Commander ===== Physical Appearance ===== **Hair:** Black, shaved nearly bald. **Eyes:** Brown with golden flecks. **Body:** What he lacks in height, he makes up for with a powerful presence, boasting rigorously maintained musculature in even proportions. His face is all sharp features but for a broad nose that somehow fails to be the center of attention. His skin is so dark as to nearly be black as charcoal. Being short and well defined gives him the appearance of someone several years younger, perhaps 18 or 19. **Distinguishing Features:** Extremely dark skin, brightly contrasting eyes, authoritative posture ===== Psychological Characteristics ===== **Personality:** Hastati Graves is the second-youngest Commander in the history of the UTR's military, which says a lot about him. He's driven, determined, focused, and intelligent. He approaches serious topics with a serious demeanor. He plays no favorites and holds no grudges, weighing the value of his personnel on merit alone. Off the bridge, when he has R&R, Graves is a very laid back and congenial man that refuses to "bring the workplace home," metaphorically speaking. **Likes:** Success, motivated subordinates, efficiency, hard work, a challenge, sake, reading, swimming, improving. **Dislikes:** Failure, laziness, inefficiency, idling, smoking. **Goals:** Become an Admiral and raise a family. ===== Family & History ===== Warrior's blood pumps through Hastati's veins. His ancient ancestors were the hardened survivors known as Bushmen, the wild men known as Zulu, courageous legionnaires of the Roman Empire, and even a Cossack. Many medals adorn his cabin aboard the Schrödinger, but most are not his. They belong to his father, his grandfather, his grandfather's grandfather, and so on. He is a collector of these things, tokens of achievement and sigils of the past. Even though he is the last of his family, he remembers proudly all of them- his mother, father, grandparents, and all four sisters- and refuses to let their deaths be in vain. He joined the UTR Navy at age 17 with eager parental consent, enlisting for Starship Ordnance. During this time he pursued academic studies, and cleared the Officer Testing Series (OTS) three months before his 19th birthday. He had made it to Lieutenant by his 21st birthday and entered the Academy for Starship Command. Upon his success, he was given leadership of a Pluto-class vessel. During his next leave, at 24, he returned to the Academy for Fleet Command, which is when he met the Templetons, Price, and Shey, and graduated shortly after his 25th birthday to assume command of the Schrödinger and Wolfgang Squadron. Coincidentally, Wolfgang happened to be a member of Antares Fleet, the same to which his latest friends now belonged.
